Bleistiftminen werden aus einem Graphit und Ton gemisch gemacht. Graphit ist reiner Kohlenstoff in Kristallform und ist absolut ungiftig. Ton besteht aus Mineralien und ist auch unschädlich. Der Name Bleistift kommt dadurch zustande, dass das Graphit wie Blei glänzt, was bei vielen Menschen für die Annahme sorgt, dass Bleistifte giftig sind, was natürlich Quatsch ist.
